marilyn + william
Marilyn and William’s lakeside wedding was a truly romantic affair. The pair tied the knot at The Barn at Smith Lake, a stunning North Alabama event venue known for its Glass House with panoramic views. This venue is beloved by brides planning a Huntsville wedding!
The girls got ready in matching floral pajamas while popular Alabama hair and makeup artist Natalie Moore styled everyone for the big day. Marilyn wore her hair in a loose bridal updo with a braid, which showed off her crystal drop wedding earrings. Each bridesmaid got to select her own wedding hairstyle to compliment her dress–each one had chosen the bridesmaid dress style of her choice in a dusty mauve shade, which created a cohesive wedding party style.
For her classic wedding dress, Marilyn created a custom look by combining elements from several different Build-A-Bride gowns into one. She started with our Coco Marie gown as her base silhouette, which is a beautiful fit-to-flare wedding dress. She changed the bodice to the plunging wedding dress neckline of our Tiffany Nicole gown, then worked with our team on an interesting design twist. Instead of the spaghetti straps that normally come on the gown, Marilyn loved the idea of a wedding dress with an open back, so she chose illusion straps that flowed into a sheer back with buttons running down it.
This was a truly unique wedding dress combination we had never done before, and Marilyn shined like a star in it. We love how her clean and classic wedding dress made her the focus, while having interesting details from every angle. To complete her look, Marilyn selected our Pilar Veil, a gorgeous lace veil that added a traditional wedding accessory to her modern wedding dress. For her “something blue,” Marilyn wore a pair of sky blue block heels.
For a casual, yet elegant look, William and his groomsmen wore classic gray suits; the groomsmen wore mauve ties to match the bridesmaids, while William sported a preppy patterned tie that brought all of the wedding colors together. The fresh and bright wedding bouquets by The Wired Owl tied in beautifully with the modern floral wedding arch that crowned the outdoor wedding ceremony.
The couple got married overlooking scenic views of Smith Lake, and as they shared their first kiss as husband and wife, they were enveloped in pink rose petals. The entire scene was breathtakingly beautiful, and wedding photographer Magnolia Photography captured it perfectly!
As soon as guests entered the wedding reception, they were greeted by giant light up letters spelling out the couple’s married last name. Alpha Lit Huntsville, who provided the light up wedding letters, has become a popular Huntsville wedding vendor for this “wow” reception decor! Between the delicious buffet by Happy Catering Company and music by DJ service Platinum Entertainment, there was much to be enjoyed at Marilyn and William’s reception.
Local bakery For Goodness Cakes by Jazz created the classic tiered wedding cake with flowers as well as William’s Alabama football groom’s cake. The blush pink photo backdrop showcasing a metallic geometric wallpaper was a popular spot to snap photos and tied in perfectly with the couple’s modern wedding inspiration.
