Wedding Dresses for Every Season

Spring
Spring is ideal for an outdoor wedding, especially here in the South. If you choose the natural atmosphere of the outdoors for your wedding, we suggest wedding dresses in fabrics that flow easily, such as a lightweight crepe or chiffon. Keep the train shorter. This is great weather to wear sleeveless and strapless wedding dresses.
If your wedding is indoors, the possibilities are endless! Make your choice based on the formality of the wedding and the venue--for example, our chic Tiffany Nicole wedding dress is perfect for a boho loft wedding, while our classic Elizabeth Anne wedding dress is better suited for a more formal church wedding. Don’t forget to pack a clear umbrella for those potential spring showers!

Summer
Summer is the season for destination and beach weddings...30A anyone? The best dresses for warm, sunny weather are those in light fabrics like chiffon or tulle. Sleeveless and strapless are logical choices, however, cap sleeve wedding dresses and those with 3/4 sleeves can also look and feel comfortable if they are in lace or illusion fabric--take a look at our Illusion Long Sleeve add-on here! A simple silhouette such as an A-line wedding dress or sheath wedding dress would be best for an outdoor wedding--our summer brides love the free-flowing style of our Brittany Massey wedding dress.

Fall
With the weather becoming cool, fall is the time to make sure that your dress is comfortable and cozy. If you choose a strapless wedding gown, accessorize with a shawl, wrap, or add-on, should it get too cold. One of our favorites for fall is our lace-adorned Tulle Shawl. With our Build-A-Bride™ collection, everything is a la carte, so if we get a warm Alabama fall, you can choose to remove the topper. With beautiful reds and browns in the natural landscape, the ambiance is more sophisticated. Match your look to the natural weather at the time, with a satin and silk wedding dress such as our Diana Kelly wedding dress in Mikado.

Winter
We are seeing more and more brides choose winter weddings, a personal favorite of ours at Build-A-Bride™ Auburn. With the cool weather comes the need to layer up. This is the time to choose heavy fabrics like shantung and satin for your wedding gown. Heavily layered ball gown wedding dresses and add-ons with embellishments will look perfect and feel comfortable--we love adding our sparkly Jordan Top or lace Valentina Top over a winter wedding dress.
Be sure to pay attention to your arms, and make sure that your dress is paired with a cozy fur wrap (try our Sugar Shawl), add-on, or our Feather Jacket if you’re taking wedding pictures outside or will be outdoors at any time of the day.
